How can we improve Strides?

Break big goal into small steps

Create a new tracker type with the ability to add checklists/milestones and break them into smaller steps.

    Yes, nested goals! A subset of tasks that would only appear when you touch the main goal

    I track rituals which is a series of habits.
    Like:
    Morning ritual:
    - Stretch
    - Drink 500ml lemon water
    - Ask daughter and spouse what they want for breakfast
    - put on coffee
    - Make breakfast
    - Eat breakfast together
    - Plan day with wife

    It would be great to have these inside a habit to review them easily. This is great espesically at the beginning of a new ritual :)

    It would be great if strides allows one to create tasks under goals and be able to track the progress on each one of them. Thanks!

    This is absolutely a definite requirement to achieve major goals in life.
    Big goals are hard to achieve without bite size, implementable daily tasks.
    Please add this feature in future update! Thanks!

    Absolutely needed to track progress of achieving goals. Track the steps needed to accomplish a goal. Tie those steps to a goal. Yes!

    Sub goals are essential. It should be similar to the organization of projects in MS Projects

    really useful. It would also be useful to show the overall goal on the dashboard, still be able to weigh each subset goal, and then see as a percentage how much of the goal was accomplished that day as a sum total of the weighted percentages of each sub goal. These sub goals, or "measures to achieve", have a huge impact on whether the goal is reached or not. This change would make the app exactly what I've been searching for.

    I agree 100%.

    I want to set a major goal, reverse engineer the "milestones" and steps to get there, then set deadlines and reminders... And track that I'm making regular progress.

    As I see it we would need 3 things to make that happen:

    * A hierarchical layout (goal, major milestones, sub tasks)

    * A success metric (save $X, lose X pounds, increase revenue by X%, reduce working hours to X per week, etc.)

    * A timeframe (by X date)

    Would this be better to think of it as linking goals?

    The goal is to have $1000 in savings.
    The habit/action is to save $10/week.

    You can enter both currently, but nesting them, or seeing them in context creates much more power. This becomes more true on more complex goals.

    Told in a slightly different way, this is a great example of one other feature I'd like to see! I'm voting again because it's still a great idea!

    If you plan to be able to bench 120 lbs more than last year, you should be able to set mini goals allowing you to show 2.5 lbs per week or 10 lbs a month. Or drinking water- if your goal is to drink 1 gallon (128 ounces) then have an alarm at 10 am 2 pm etc with different goal amounts adding up to reach main goal amount per day. Hard to reach a goal without a set plan.

    Also can be made with money. If you have a goal to save 1000$ you don't just throw in lose change randomly. You set it to 10$ a week or whatever your goal is. This will allow longer goals to seem like lots of short mini goals that are easily attainable and will result in a satisfying feeling when you constantly see green everything. Allowing the long term goals to have shorter weekly or daily goals will make it easier to not only log but keep on track.

    Milestones could use more granularity. Sub-steps to any task/goal would be great
