Description/Note field under “gear” icon for habit, target, etc
Long description of request with specific example, how the feature could be used, and how such a feature does not appear to exist yet. Thanks.
Opportunity for succinct title? Check.
Ability to tag? Check.
Different kinds of goals/habits? Check.
BUT, I have an terrible memory. For a given task or goal, I’ll write a title for a goal or habit in the title, correctly categorize it (average, goal by date, etc) and even tag it appropriately.
But I’ll forget the main purpose of the task. While each entry has a bubble for notes for that entry, I’m wondering if you can add an additional (optional) field in the list of options found under the “gear”/settings icon for the habit/goal that would provide the user to write out a more detailed description of the habit or goal. Essentially, just a free-form notes field that’s applicable to the entire habit/goal. Hopefully, such an addition is a simple matter of creating an empty field entitled “habit note” into which can be entered (up to 400 characters? of) text.
Such a note or description doesn’t have to be visible when making an entry. In fact, it shouldn’t. Just something to remind me what I was thinking when I created the habit in the first place.
For example: I might reward myself with “guilt free play time” as the day/week/month/year progresses. I start with 135 minutes/day and if I stay focused on my plans, I can add that time to be used as I choose. Whether deliberately or not, I might space out or get off task. It happens. So, my more detailed description - just a reminder about the purpose of the habit/goal - might read as follows:
“Add 135 minutes per day when I awaken. Subtract time (in minutes) throughout day as I go off intentional path (without deliberate decision). Goal for Jan 1-31, 2019 is to maintain average of 15m/day (average habit) or accumulate 465m by end of month (for target goal).”
Obviously, the above paragraph is too long and detailed for the title, but it would be an apt note to put in the “note field” of two goals: (1) A daily average goal and (2) a target goal. This detailed description would be accessible for reference/edit under gear icon for goal. This description would apply to the goal or habit in general and not to any specific entry.
Then I fall off the wagon for 2 weeks. On try to get back to my habits and goals. I look under my LOST TIME tag (actually a tag for me). I see two (2) goals/habits that reference Lost time. One is titled: “Average remaining lost/day)”. The other is titled “Accumulated Avail. Lost Time”. If I had remained consistent, I wouldn’t need to refer to the detailed note. But after slacking for 2 weeks, I don’t remember the specific purpose of each goal/habit. I refer to the note I wrote when I created the goal/habit and voila, I know why I created these and what they’re supposed to help me accomplish. The I click “Start over” because I want to start fresh and forget that I fell off the wagon. The specific daily entries, averages and progress to goal reset but the detailed note remains in case I need to remind myself again.
I’m posting this request because I haven’t found it elsewhere.
