Habit: Rolling
Currently just track by day, week or month and at the end of each month it resets the count.
For example I had completed something 27 times in a row and at the start of November it reset to zero as its a new month. I want to view how many times I've done something since I began it
This use case is much better handled with the Rolling Average setting on the Average tracker type than with the Habit type. It covers just about everything that's been requested here, and adjusting the Habit tracker in this way would be too complex, so we're sticking with the Rolling Average feature.

For example, set tracker for maximum allowable does of a prescription is 3X/7 day period rather than 3X/calendar week

Hi Kyle,
I'm not 100% sure if the way I see this idea is the same as other see it, but I found the perfect way to describe what I'd be looking for. The "Beeminder app"
Beeminder is a habit tracking app where if you fail to hit the goal you have to pay. That's cool, but not the point, the point is how they track goals, and that's _exactly_ what I would be looking for. Instead of X per week, and it resets when the week starts, it's X on average per week, and when a day passes, it brings the average down, and when the habit is completed it brings the average up. The goal is to keep the average. If the average falls below the threshold, the habit is considered as failed and need to be restarted again. With this is' possible to send preemptive notifications like: You didn't work out enough time this week, but no rush, if you work out once by Friday, you'll still hit your goal, or something like that.
Anyway, now I'm actually happily using Beeminder, and using Strides for more of a Routines use case (which it is great for). But I thought I'd share my perspective on the proposal.
Best,

If it is going to be like ‘Way of Life’ app or an excel sheets with green and red, this will be perfect, the only thing this app is missing!!!
Such a view gives so much satisfaction and motivation without having to enter to report screen for each habit -

I would LOVE the ability to set to a specific rolling time period for goals. Like a hybrid between rolling averages and goal tracking.
Examples: I want to practice guitar 5 times within every 7 day period. (But not have it reset at the start of each week or month.)
I have found ways to pseudo-achieve what I want. (Like setting an every 5 out of 7 day goal for 25 times in a month. Or doing “rolling averages” as a .5 within every seven logs.)
I also know you can technically see your progress in calendar view. But it can be discouraging to have that green bar reset at the “technical” start of a time period. I’ve also found myself waiting to start goals until the beginning of the week (and then sometimes not starting it then) because I know I won’t hit my “goal” by the end of the week/month and I don’t want to stare at a red bar when I am actually going to hit it within a 7 day or 30 day period.
Having that green bar is ridiculously helpful to someone like me with ADHD and, though I *KNOW* that I am “on target” there’s something that makes me feel like it’s not even worth it when it’s just going to end with red. This makes the beginning of each month extremely difficult too.
Others in ADHD groups that I’m in have expressed similar feelings when it comes to goal tracking. (Whoops! I’m not going to get it to green in this M-S period – so let’s just skip it the rest of the week... though if it were a rolling 7 day period, I absolutely would still have that green bar and more likely to only skip a day.)

I very much would like to see this feature. Kyle, to your original answer to Ashley, you ask
So you would prefer to have a Rolling Habit tracker then?
e.g. The Dashboard bar would always show the last 7 or 30 days if Rolling was turned on for a Weekly or Monthly Habit trackerYes, that's exactly what I would like!
Thanks for a great app!

I’ve been using this app for years now. One thing I’ve tried to do in tracking a habit (good or bad) is just pay attention to how I’m performing over the last so many weeks or months. Instead of a specific start date, I’d love to see a button that allows me to change the measurement time to “Last 3 weeks” or “Last 2 months” especially with rolling averages. I get especially motivated to maintain my habit when I’m at 100% of weeks where I hit my goal. You miss one week and it never leaves your history unless you change the start date.

I track my workouts/guitar practice/etc. by average minutes per week. That’s great. Also the average on the dashboard is good.
However, I’d also like to have a calendar view (in calendar format) where I can see WHEN I logged my calories in each of the last few weeks (i.e. 500 on last Monday, none this Tuesday, 400 this Wednesday, etc.)

I like how the dashboard focuses on 'the now' and it is nice that we can open each habit and see the performance details for that habit, but I would like a way to easily see the last week(s) and month for all habits at once to get understand the overall progress.

Very very much agreed.

Yes I would agree. This is my first full month and when I went to look at November, everything had reset to zero. I'd also like to be able to see history month to month.

Yeah this is superbly annoying. Why can't I set a month as four weeks/28-30 days from the starting date?
