How can we improve Strides?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

  1. Integration with IFTTT

    IFTTT integration would allow us so many connectivity options!
    From simple stuff like, "Add an entry to a Google spreadsheet every time i successfully complete this habit" to more aesthetic things like, "If all my goals were met today, make the Phillips Hue lights do a rainbow color gradient."

  3. Show a weekly view

    It would be nice to see a weekly view which would show the list of the habits scheduled on each day so I know if I can add more habits on that day or if I added too many habits in one day.

  4. Add fortnightly option

    It would be beneficial to have a fortnightly option, alongside daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, particularly when tracking spending.

    As mine, and I’m sure others, get paid on a fortnightly basis, it would allow for a more accurate representation and tracking of this data.

    I’m finding that major expenses being paid every second week are greater than my weekly goal (averaged based on fortnightly expenses) and throws out my streaks, however my average is still within the required amount.

  5. Prompt a set of questions when setting a goal or habit.

    Instead of just using the notes section, it would be great to have a preset group of questions such as:

    Why is this goal / habit important to you?

    How will you know you have achieved it?

    How will you reward yourself?

    What obstacles are in your way?

    How will you overcome them?

    Having a commitment contract would also be great, letting you state what you will do if you break a habit or don’t reach a goal, with the ability to email that to someone for accountability would be great.

    Finally, option to add a photo for visualisation would…

  6. Add category headings to the Tracker page

    Be able to group like habits together and create a heading for each category. I know you’re able to add Tags to things, but they don’t show up on the Tracker page.

  8. Strides API/JSON data access

    From Craig: "I’m interested in bringing my habits from the export into a timeline of my day that eventually gets imported into Day One and is organized by time.

    The missing link in Quantified Self / life logging is correlating events with other events, connecting data from disparate sources, etc. That’s why a Strides JSON dump would be helpful. Just give users the data the app already contains and and and let us figure out what to do with it."

  9. Images for motivation/visual tracking

    I would love to be able to attach images to a goal somehow. For example, keeping a log of self images to track weight loss progress and stay motivated, a picture of something you’re saving money for, a picture of a family member who drives a personal goal, etc. Visualizing goals and reasons for them would make tracking so much more motivating to me.

  10. Calendar to link habits to for daily productivity

    Being able to associate a habit or goal with a time of day and day of week/month depending on the frequency of this habit/goal would make this the ultimate habit app!!

  11. Add “section view” in the dashboard

    What if there was a “section view” in the dashboard so that not all the habits/goals are not mixed up together? For example, in the dashboard, the first section would be “work” and it would have all the habits for work and then immediately after the section “personal” continues and so forth. That way it would be easy to organize the habits and get an idea which area needs what. This can work with a touch of a button on the top right for example, because it’s still important to see everything together.

  13. Keep Averages in Today View until Goal is met

    When an average goal is logged once, it disappears from the today view. This is fine for logs done once per day, but average goals done multiple times per day should stay in the today view until the average is met. Can there be an option to choose whether to close it out for the day, or have it stay in today view until the average is met? Having this as an option would really help the today view be more accurate for those of us that use average goals multiple times per day. (I’ve tried using habits, but if…

  14. Choose which goals count towards "perfect" days

    I thought it might be helpful to select only the goals I really want to focus on to count towards "perfect" days. I do want to be able to keep track of everything, but it could be discouraging if every tracker is weighted the same. It's so easy to become overwhelmed by the amount of things we want to be doing, and it might be easier to focus and stay motivated if we could select which ones we NEED to complete to achieve a "perfect day," and we could always go look at our other trackers to see our progress.

  15. Add setting to open straight to Dashboard

    For those who routinely use the dashboard to enter and review information, it would be useful to be to open straight to that page rather than the Today page.

  16. Log time in hr/min

    I have a few tasks where I need to track time. For example playing the piano. I I have a goal of 2 hours a week, and at the moment all I can do it count by minutes then do math to figure out 120 means 2 hours. This get more unweildy when I have a goal of 15-20 for something. It would be nice to be able to set a goal as a unit of Time, then add as units of time.

  17. No tracking option... just a goal date

    Sometimes I can’t expect myself to, let’s say, read my new book every day; but I do like seeing the goal there (without a habit to check off every day).

    So, I’d like a no tracking option - just a reminder of a due date option with an option to extend if needed.

    One might say this defeats the purpose of the app, but it should be noted that I’m assuming that I’d be checking the app in the first place as a habit.

  18. Search Option

    Can you possibility add a search option. I have lots of trackers (and the tags help), but a search bar would be awesome.

  19. Ability to sort trackers (ie by numbers from high to low & vice versa

    Hello,

    It would be useful to have a sorting feature where one can sort trackers in ascending or descending order. For example, within a category if one has a list of trackers, all of which track numbers, to able to sort from highest to lowest and vice versa.

  20. Make related goals, or categories of a single goal, e.g. 1 hour of study vs 1 hour of report writing

    E.g. aim to do 5 hours of uni work per day, some days I may spend the whole 5 hours writing a report, others I will do revision
