Main Screen Widget
In IOS 10 widgets are not toys anymore. It's second desktop, because you only need 1 swipe from lock screen.

I definitely agree; it would be so much easier to have it as a widget as well and be able to complete tasks without having to unlock my phone (and thereby avoid the potential for me to accidentally get distracted and destroy my productivity

Yeah, I agree that this is essential. For an excellent example of how well this can be accomplished, check out the Habitify widgets (they provide two, because they offer an "inspirational quote" widget as well).
